Students will have a chance to learn about their identity development and explore identities that they may not have considered before. They will also have a chance to socialize and learn with the other affinity groups via scheduled educational and social programming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advisor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"mailto:katycoll@bu.edu\">Katy Collins<\/a> will function as an advisor to each group. Social programming can include meet-n-greets, dances, trivia, or celebrations of your accomplishments. Educational programming could cover individual and group identity development, social identity specifics (critical race theory, queer theories, etc.), leadership skills, and outside speakers.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can I create my own programming?<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Absolutely. What can I get from this program?<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joining a student network can help build and bolster a student\u2019s sense of belonging. These spaces provide students with an opportunity to explore and\u00a0 understand their own identities in a particular place and time as well as the identities that others hold. Since one\u2019s notion of self can fluctuate over time, we will regularly offer these spaces so that students know that there is a space for them at any time on their journey.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If I join a network do I have to attend every meeting or program?<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No. These spaces are for students to utilize as they see fit.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does anyone determine which group I join?<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No. Students self-select into these groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can I join more than one network?<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes.
