Whether engaging with the office through educational opportunities, or participating in the conduct process, our goal is to build and instill a commitment to social responsibility, constructive conflict resolution, and interpersonal competence \u2500 skills that support students\u2019 academic and personal success.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>STUDENT CONDUCT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OSCCR (pronounced &#8216;Oscar&#8217;) adjudicates allegations of nonacademic misconduct as delineated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/dos\/policies\/student-responsibilities\/\">Code of Student Responsibilities<\/a> (Code), a set of guiding principles and behavioral expectations. The expectations set forth in the Code emphasize integrity, self-discipline, and personal responsibility. The Code reflects the University\u2019s commitment to fairness, protecting students\u2019 rights, and to promoting a safe and supportive learning community built on mutual trust and respect.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>CONDUCT RECORDS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OSCCR maintains non-academic student disciplinary records in accordance with the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/policies\/record-retention\/\">Record Retention Policy<\/a>. Reportable sanctions are disclosed, with the student\u2019s written permission, in response to both internal University and external inquiries. Authorized inquiries are often in conjunction with students\u2019 plans to transfer to another college or university, gain admission to graduate or professional school, study abroad, or secure employment, internship, and some leadership positions. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/dos\/policies\/lifebook\/policies-on-records\/\">Accessing Student Conduct Records<\/a>\u00a0for instructions and additional information.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>CONFLICT RESOLUTION<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OSCCR offers conflict coaching, facilitated discussions, restorative conferences, and peer mediation training to equip students with the information, skills, and confidence to constructively resolve conflicts on their own. Eligible students are guided through active listening, framing, and rephrasing exercises in programs ranging from ninety minutes to four hours. By introducing mediation concepts in a small-group format, students discover an appreciation for the power and benefits of collaborative problem solving.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>OFF-CAMPUS SERVICES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Off-Campus Services, a unit within OSCCR, offers information, advice, and referrals on a variety of issues, including conducting an apartment search and considerations before signing a lease.
