Take care when using personal electronic devices, as they limit your awareness.<\/li>\n<li>Log important (BUPD, 911, your RA, a reliable cab company, etc.) numbers into your mobile phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>On Foot<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Use pedestrian crosswalks.<\/li>\n<li>Always look for cars, bikes and trolleys before crossing the street or MBTA tracks.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t dart in front of traffic to catch a train or bus.<\/li>\n<li>Stay off rail\/train tracks.<\/li>\n<li>Stay off the frozen Charles River during winter months.<\/li>\n<li>At night, walk in well-lit areas and avoid walking alone; use the Buddy System!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>On Your Bike, Scooter, or Skateboard<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Always wear a helmet.<\/li>\n<li>Learn, use and obey traffic signals. Remember, riders must obey the same traffic laws as motor vehicle operators.<\/li>\n<li>If riding at night, use reflectors and lights.<\/li>\n<li>Give pedestrians the right of way.<\/li>\n<li>Ride defensively. Watch for cars and car doors opening.<\/li>\n<li>Do not weave in and out of traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Slow down at intersections and look both ways before crossing.<\/li>\n<li>Always lock your bike or scooter with a strong lock in good condition.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/bikesafety\/bike-registration\/\">Register your bike<\/a> with the Boston University Police Department.
