As Chief of Staff & Director of Operations, Student Affairs, Dan serves as the Division’s chief operations officer. He oversees programs and functions of the division, working closely with the department directors to ensure effective coordination, adequate resourcing, and timely completion of high-priority projects. He supervises the staff of the Dean of Students Office, Parent & Family Programs, Student Outreach & Engagement, Student Affairs Communications, George Sherman Union Operations, and is responsible for Student Affairs strategic planning efforts. Working in close alignment with Events & Conferences, Facilities Management & Planning, Dining Services, and the University Space Committee, Dan oversees management of the George Sherman Union physical space. Dan also coordinates Title IX procedure implementation and proactive efforts for Student Affairs. He serves as the principle liaison between Student Affairs and the staff of both the Office of the President and Office of the Provost, ensuring effective collaboration on University-wide student related matters. In addition, he serves as the liaison to the Department of Athletics for student-athlete development, compliance, strategic planning, and student-athlete judicial investigations. As part of his portfolio, Dan also manages and directs operations and procedures of the University Board on Student Conduct, which serves as the judicial appeals board for the University. In addition to his responsibilities in Student Affairs, Dan serves as an instructor in the BU Hub, facilitating two BU Hub courses; Belonging in College, and LGBTQ Identity Development.

He is proud to hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Education in Policy, Planning & Administration, both from Boston University. He has also worked in the Educational Resource Center, Residence Life, and Office of the Provost before joining the Senior Leadership team of Student Affairs. As an administrator for 16 years, and as a former student, Dan has a keen understanding of the University – which serves him well towards his first priority – being a resource and advocate for the success and enduring growth of all students at the University.

During his time away from BU, Dan can be found on the water as an avid sailor. He has sailed since age six, and is a member of the Falmouth Yacht Club J-24 fleet. He has participated in the New York Yacht Club’s Newport to Bermuda Race, the Cruising Club of America’s Marion to Bermuda Race, as well as the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race. He also greatly enjoys the pleasures of volunteering and community improvement, and is actively engaged in these efforts as a member of the Board of Managers for the Merrimack Valley YMCA, the Boston Executive Committee of the One Love Foundation, committed to ending relationship violence in our society; the Planning Committee for Fenway Health’s Men’s Event, an annual black-tie gala benefit to increase and strengthen awareness of the importance of Fenway’s comprehensive health services and raising funds to support and continue these services, and the Professional Advisory Group for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America of Eastern Massachusetts, partnering with under-resourced families to provide their children with transformational, one-to-one professionally-supported relationships with caring adult mentors, so that their children will thrive.
