Of Pitfalls and Possibilities: The Case of India and Feminist Anti-Rape Organizing Across Difference

Dr. Debortri Dhar's research examines the relationship between rape, suicide, and the postcolonial state, exploring such themes as gender, caste and class; silence and subaltern speech; culture, rights, and the nation; women's agency; transnational feminism and egalitarian justice.
Dhar is the 2013-2014 Visiting Scholar at Boston University's Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Program. She holds a Masters in Women's Studies from Oxford University and a Ph. D. in Women's and Gender Studies from Rutgers University.
