Luz López, a clinical professor at the School of Social Work, was attracted to Boston University because “it had a very clear social justice focus.” Hailing from a culture where homophobia is prevalent, López said she was initially reticent to share her personal life on campus. “But BU has been a very open and supportive environment. We are creating a community and being able to talk about it, and to live it, makes a huge difference.”
