Boston Ujima Project is an active form of community preservation, growth, and sustainability. As the first democratic capital fund in the country, initiatives are set by black and brown communities in Boston, with a focus on Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury. Through workshops, BUP educates the community on what it takes to address the needs and standards of the communities it serves. BUP is very welcoming and a great way to become involved and feel grounded within the Boston community. As a co-organizer on the Arts and Culture team from day one, I was able to be seen and heard and actively participate in projects and initiatives.
