A documentary which focuses on the need for open access to research and science, Paywall: The Business of Scholarship questions the rationale behind the $25.2 billion a year that flows into for-profit academic publishers, examines the 35-40% profit margins associated with the top academic publishers and looks at how those profit margins are often greater than some of the most profitable tech companies like Apple, Facebook and Google. Be sure to join us for the movie followed by a Q&A with Producer/Director Jason Schmitt.

The movie is free of charge but registration is required. The movie is open to everyone in the BU community and beyond. The movie is being shown as part of  OpenCon 2018 Boston. If you are interested in attending OpenCon, please visit the OpenCon registration page. (Note: If you are registered for OpenCon, you do not need to register for the movie. OpenCon registration includes admission to the movie).
