  1. Login into Accommodate<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. When prompted, enter your BU ID and password.<\/li>\n
  3. On the left side of the Accommodate homepage, click on the Testing Room<\/strong>
    \nNOTE: If you do not see the Testing Room<\/strong> tab, please make sure you have submitted a semester request for your accommodations. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us at testing@bu.edu so we can troubleshoot the problem with you.<\/li>\n
  4. Clicking on the Testing Room<\/strong> tab will bring you to the Alternative Testing Rooms webpage. Click on New Booking Request<\/strong> at the bottom.<\/li>\n
  5. Click on Course <\/strong>to access the drop-down menu. Select the course you are taking the exam for<\/li>\n
  6. If your professor has already uploaded the exam, a pop up labeled Exam<\/strong> will appear next to Course<\/strong>. Select Exam<\/strong> to access the drop-down menu and choose the exam you are scheduling for. If the professor hasn\u2019t uploaded the exam yet, you can still proceed with the test booking.<\/li>\n
  7. Select Optional Filters<\/strong> to access the drop-down menu. Select Building <\/strong>to then select Testing Center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  8. Select Accommodations <\/strong>to access the drop-down menu and select the accommodations you would like to use for the exam.<\/li>\n
  9. Determine the length of the exam you are scheduling. Please speak to your professor before scheduling to confirm the length of the exam before your accommodations are included.
    \nIs your exam the length of your class?<\/u><\/em> Select No<\/strong> to Will this exam be shorter than the length of your class?<\/strong> and continue to the next step.
    \nIs your exam shorter than the length of your class?<\/u><\/em> Select Yes<\/strong> to Will this exam be shorter than the length of your class?<\/strong>. Then, indicate the length of the exam (in minutes). If you have accommodations for extended time on exams, include the additional time when selecting the length of the exam. For example, if the exam is 60 minutes and you receive 50% extra time on exams (time and a half) then you will receive an additional 30 minutes and would schedule the exam for 90 minutes.<\/li>\n
  10. <\/span>Click Next Step <\/strong>at the bottom right corner and a calendar will appear. As you will see, the calendar will only show appointments at least 3 business days in advance, so please schedule your exams ahead of time.<\/li>\n
  11. Select the date on the calendar that the class is due to take the exam. If your professor has approved an alternate date, you can select that date.<\/li>\n
  12. <\/span>Proceed to Select a Space<\/strong>. Select the time that most closely corresponds with the time of the class exam. If your professor has approved an alternate time, you can select that time.<\/li>\n
  13. Click Request<\/strong> and a pop-up labeled Confirm Booking will appear.<\/li>\n
  14. Click What type of section is the class taking the exam in? <\/strong>to access the drop down menu. Select the appropriate section for your exam. Typically, it will be Lecture, but sometimes it will be Discussion or Lab.<\/li>\n
  15. Provide the name of the exam that you are scheduling for in the Exam field. The name of the exam should include the course name and type of exam (ex: CH 101 Quiz 1; EC201 Midterm; PT515 Final Exam).<\/li>\n
  16. Click Submit Request<\/strong>. You will receive an email notification that the request has been submitted, and another notification when the appointment has been approved by the ATC. Your instructor will also receive a notification that you scheduled the test; however, it is still a good idea to remind them that you are planning to take the exam at the ATC.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    When will the Accommodated Testing Center pilot begin?<\/h5>

    \nThe pilot phase of the <\/span>ATC<\/span> began on Monday, April 1<\/span>, 2024<\/span>,<\/span> and will be available until further notice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

    Where is the Accommodated Testing Center located?<\/h5>

    \nThe Accommodated Testing Center is located at 930 Commonwealth Avenue, West, Room 250.
    \nYou can enter through the 930 entrance on Commonwealth Avenue and follow the hallway until you reach the 930 West atrium, or use the 930 West entrance on Pleasant Street.
    \nTake the elevator on the south<\/span> side of the atrium or the staircase up to the second floor.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

    What are the Accommodated Testing Center's hours of operation?<\/h5>

    \nMonday-Friday, 9 am – 4:30 pm. The first exam will begin at 9 am and the last exam needs to be completed no later than 4:30 pm. Note that the Accommodated Testing Center is closed weekends and most University holidays.

    Will I need to provide identification to enter the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nYes. You will be required to show your Terrier Card.\u00a0<\/span>

    How will I know that I am approved to use the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nStudents that have approved “exam accommodations” through Disability & Access Services are eligible to request to take their tests in the Accommodated Testing Center.
    \nNote:<\/strong> Students with only “Classroom accommodations” are not eligible and should contact Disability & Access Services if they believe that their disability documentation should be reviewed to request exam accommodations.

    How far in advance do students with an approved exam accommodation need to request to take an exam in the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nStudents must make a request at least three (3) business days in advance of the exam date. For final exams, students must submit their exam requests at least five (5) business days in advance due to increase in volume of tests.

    How do I make a request to take my exam at the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nLog on to Accommodate<\/a>, to book your test. Instructions can be found here for your reference<\/a>. You will receive an email notification that the request has been submitted, and another notification when the appointment has been approved by the Accommodated Testing Center.

    What is the capacity of the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nThe Accommodated Testing Center in this pilot program has a MAXIMUM capacity of 25 test takers at any given time. There are 25 spaces available to reserve and they will be allocated at a first-come, first-served basis.

    What time and day do I have to sign up for the exam?<\/h5>

    \nYou should sign up to take your exams on the same day and time that the rest of your class is taking them.

    What can I do if there are no bookings available for me to take the exam?<\/h5>

    \nPlease contact your professor to determine another date and time for you to take the test in the testing center, or they can find a distraction-reduced testing environment on their own.

    Do I have to take my exams at the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nNo, your professor is still welcome to find a distraction-reduced testing environment and a proctor themselves. Feel free to check with Disability & Access Services to make sure the space they find fulfills the accommodation.

    The Accommodated Testing Center hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am - 4:30 pm. What happens if the test is scheduled for outside those hours?<\/h5>

    \nPlease contact your professor to determine another date and time for you to take the test in the testing center, or they can find a distraction-reduced testing environment on their own.
    \nPlease note in addition to the Accommodated Testing Center’s operating hours, you may have to adjust your test bookings to take transit into account, due to the testing center’s location.

    Can I take make-up exams in the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nYes, if the make-up exam has been approved and scheduled in Accommodate by the faculty. The student will still need to confirm that space is available.

    What happens if I am late to an exam that I have scheduled at the Accommodated Testing Center<\/h5>

    \nYou will not be allowed to take the exam if you are 10 minutes or more late, until or unless your professor allows you to and based on the ATC’s schedule and capacity. Your professor can notify the Accommodated Testing Center of their late policy prior to your test booking.

    Can I reschedule an exam that I have scheduled at the Accommodated Testing Center and if so, how do I reschedule?<\/h5>

    \nYes, you can reschedule the exam in Accommodate<\/a>, or call the Accommodated Testing Center at 617-358-8378 and ask a staff member to reschedule your booking manually. Please note that your professor must approve the new booking.

    What do I do if I miss my scheduled exam that was supposed to be held at the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nTalk to your professor about their make-up policy. If a make-up exam is allowed, you can schedule a new test booking through     Accommodate<\/a>.

    What can I bring with me to a test that I take at the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nOnly materials that are approved by your instructor for the exam and accommodation items approved by Disability & Access Services. Lockers will be provided for you to store personal effects that you do not need during the exam.
    \nYour phone and smartwatch must be put in the locker and turned OFF, not just silenced.
    \nDuring cold weather, we ask that you store your outerwear in the lockers as well.
    \nPlease do not bring scooters, bicycles, luggage, etc.

    How will my instructor receive the exam?<\/h5>

    \nInstructors will log in to the Accommodate system through the Disability & Access Services website. A faculty profile has been automatically created for them.

    What happens if I am caught cheating?<\/h5>

    \nThe exam will be halted, and the professor will be contacted. A report will be filed in accordance with the University’s Academic Conduct Code<\/a>.

    What if there are any problems with the exam?<\/h5>

    \nOn the exam submission form, professors can indicate how they would like to be contacted during the exam. We also have space in the Accommodated Testing Center for the professor or a designee to sit if they would like to be present in the event you have any questions.

    What if I need to use the restroom during the exam?<\/h5>

    \nLeave all exam materials on your desk and proceed to the front of the Accommodated Testing Center. Inform the staff that you need to use the restroom. You will not be escorted to the restroom, but your departure and return will be logged.\u00a0<\/span>

    What happens if my professor has not informed the Accommodated Testing Center that I'm allowed extra exam materials?<\/h5>

    \nWe will contact the professor to ask for confirmation. If we do not hear back from them within a reasonable timeframe, you will be allowed to take the exam using the extra materials, but they will be cataloged, and the professor will be notified.

    Can students who are not approved for exam accommodations through Disability & Access Services take exams at the Accommodated Testing Center?<\/h5>

    \nNo. Only students that have received approval for an exam accommodation through Disability & Access Services are eligible to take exams at the Accommodated Testing Center.

    What do I do if the exam space is noisy?<\/h5>

    \nWe will do our best to create a quiet, less distracting exam location, but there may be times when we do not have control over noise. For your convenience, ear-plugs and noise-cancelling headphones are available upon request.
