Lorraine received an undergraduate B.S. degree in Nutrition and Health Sciences from Natal University, South Africa, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (with a focus on human factors engineering) from Northeastern University. She has a Master’s Degree in Information Science from Northeastern University, with additional coursework in Assistive Technology from London Guildhall University, England.

With an extensive background in technology and disability service provision, Ms. Norwich has worked for over 20 years in South Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. using a holistic approach to provide individuals with disabilities with the technology, educational and vocational services they need to successfully pursue their educational and vocational goals, as well as improve their quality of life. She has presented on Assistive Technology

for vocational, recreational and educational use at regional and national conferences and is a member of a number of professional information technology organizations. Prior to her work at Boston University, Ms. Norwich was the head of the assistive technology department at Community Work Services (CWS) and consulted to Northeastern University’s Disability Resource Center, UMass Boston and North Shore Community College and Information Technology Departments. Ms. Norwich’s professional experience also includes consultation regarding website accessibility compliance, adaptive equipment design for activities of daily living, and therapeutic recreation. Ms. Norwich is a native of South Africa.
