Many Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) alumni attended the annual Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) and Postgraduate Operative and Esthetic Dentistry (PGOE) Dinner and Continuing Education Lecture at the Metcalf Trustee Ballroom in the Questrom School of Business on Friday, June 12, 2015.<\/p>\n

The lecture, entitled: \u201cMaximizing Patient Treatment Outcomes While Minimizing Patient Trauma\u201d was delivered by Dr. Paul Fugazzotto, who holds a DDS from New York University and a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Periodontology from GSDM. Fugazzotto currently maintains a private practice in periodontics and implant therapy in Milton, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

Dr. Fugazzotto is also an active member of many organizations, and is a fellow of the International Team of Implantology. He is a visiting lecturer at Harvard University and Tuft University Schools of Dental Medicine.<\/p>\n

Clinical Professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences & Biomaterials, Director of the Post-graduate Operative, Esthetic, and Digital Dentistry Program, Director of the Dental Health Center, and Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program Dr. John Cassis said the lecture was a great success.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe night went extremely well. The energy of the speaker, Dr. Paul Fugazzotto, along with the alumni, made for a successful evening,\u201d said Dr. Cassis. \u201cI continue to be impressed with the loyalty of our alumni and the effort that they put in to make this a special event.\u00a0 As always, we leave wishing there was more time to spend with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Fugazzotto\u2019s lecture began at 8 p.m. and was preceded by cocktails at 6 p.m. and a dinner at 7 p.m. The four main objectives that Dr. Fugazzotto listed for his lecture were:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To understand the components of comprehensive diagnosis and interdisciplinary treatment planning in both \u201csimple\u201d and \u201cdifficult\u201d cases.<\/li>\n
  2. To understand the indications and contradictions for various therapies around natural teeth, and to regenerate bone in edentulous areas.<\/li>\n
  3. To understand the indications and contradictions for various implant morphologies.<\/li>\n
  4. To understand the most effective ways to translate the value of such therapies to patients, thus increasing case acceptance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u201cOur alumni are always encouraged to stay active with all of GSDM\u2019s continuing education events,\u201d said Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter. \u201cDr. Fugazzotto\u2019s impressive lecture is an example of the high quality academic events GSDM is proud to offer to all its alumni.\u201d<\/p>\n
