\nJeanette MacLean, DDS \u00a0\"\"
\n<\/strong>Dr. Jeanette MacLean is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, private practice owner, and mother of two.\u00a0 She received her dental degree, with honors, from the University of Southern California in 2003 and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry in 2005 at Sunrise Children\u2019s Hospital through the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. MacLean has become an internationally recognized advocate and expert on silver diamine fluoride, appearing in newspapers, magazines, television, and continuing education lectures on this hot topic.\u00a0 Most notably, she was featured in the July 2016 New York Times article \u201cA Cavity Fighting Liquid Helps Kids Avoid Dentists\u2019 Drills,\u201d which brought national attention to the option of treating cavities non-invasively with silver diamine fluoride.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Increasing patient awareness and demand for minimally invasive treatment options calls for dental providers to expand their clinical training beyond conventional surgical interventions. This comprehensive course will feature a morning lecture reviewing the scientific evidence for minimal interventions and bioactive restorative treatments like topical fluorides, silver diamine fluoride (SDF), glass ionomer cement (GIC), silver modified atraumatic restorative treatment (SMART), the Hall Technique (HT), and GIC ART strip crowns. The afternoon hands-on portion will walk participants through the step-by-step clinical placement of SDF, GIC sealants, ART, SMART, HT SSCs, and GIC ART strip crowns. Attendees will increase their confidence and mastery of these minimal interventions so they can immediately begin implementing these techniques into their clinical practices.<\/p>\n

  • Review the scientific literature for nonsurgical caries treatments with topical fluorides and SDF<\/li>\n
  • Review the evidence for atraumatic restorative treatments<\/li>\n
  • Describe the case selection, materials, and clinical protocols for minimal interventions<\/li>\n
  • Perform tabletop GIC sealants, GIC fillings, Hall crowns, and GIC ART strip crowns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
