If not, you must request an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\/immigration-status\/maintaining-status\/extension\/\">extension<\/a>\u00a0from the ISSO.\u00a0If you intend to apply for post-completion\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\/employment-internships\/student-off-campus-work-and-training\/optional\/\">Optional Practical Training<\/a>\u00a0(OPT) work permission, please review the ISSO webpage for tips on the timing and steps required for your application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>International students in J-1 status:<\/strong>\u00a0If you will not be graduating by your expected graduation date, make sure your immigration Form DS-2019 is valid at least until your new graduation date. If not, you must request an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\/immigration-status\/maintaining-status\/extension\/\"><\/a>\u00a0from the ISSO.\u00a0If you intend to apply for post-completion\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\/employment-internships\/student-off-campus-work-and-training\/academic\/\">Academic Training<\/a>\u00a0(AT) work permission, you must submit an application prior to your program completion date. See the ISSO webpage for timing and steps required to apply.<\/p>\n<p>You must submit your extension request to the ISSO at least\u00a0<strong>one month<\/strong>\u00a0in advance of the end date on your I-20\/DS-2019 to ensure you will receive the extension before your current document expires.<\/p>\n<p>Students who graduate on\u00a0<u>August 25<\/u>\u00a0must be enrolled for the summer semester. The GSDM Registrar\u2019s Office will enroll students.
