The Digital Business Institute was engaged to study Siemen\u2019s current state and to develop a custom program of knowledge and skills transfer, focused on business ecosystems (platforms) for the top 200 managers at the company (Division &#038; Business Unit CEOs, Country CEOs).<br \/>\n<b>Key Accomplishments:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Digital Business Institute delivered the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Studied Siemens strategic objectives<\/li>\n<li>Developed content and customization for 2-day workshop program<\/li>\n<li>Provided a faculty lead (Professor Marshall van Alstyne) for academic delivery\/train the trainer sessions<\/li>\n<li>Coordinated with Siemens dedicated program management team<\/li>\n<li>Developed workshop materials and pre-reads<\/li>\n<li>Held subsequent workshops and coaching sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the Siemens program lead: \u201cI just wanted to give you a big, big thank you for the great collaboration and the great training delivery by Marshall this week. The feedback from our pilot participants was overwhelmingly positive. This is quite outstanding given the German tendency to be critical and that the virtual delivery was an additional challenge. I also really appreciate the collaboration with the whole BU team, Peter\u2019s, Andrei\u2019s and Marshall\u2019s commitment and the spirit of delivering a great training suited to Siemens needs. Aternity\u2019s CEO and CMO sought a deeper understanding of their customers and the \u201cpaths to purchase\u201d. A team of DBI Research Assistants worked alongside Aternity\u2019s leadership team across many departments.<br \/>\n<b>Key Highlights:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Created customer personas and customer journeys<\/li>\n<li>Generated Tableau data visualization dashboards for the marketing funnel<\/li>\n<li>Synthesized results from a survey of IT professionals<\/li>\n<li>Set up a social media strategy and Influencer program<\/li>\n<li>Developed target buyer personas for a new market category<\/li>\n<li>Conducted competitive analysis for best practices and analyzed marketing content effectiveness across the buyer journey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Quest Diagnostics<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><img src=\"\/dbi\/files\/2023\/04\/a7c7a0dd-1cd7-432f-9a70-11aee98faa7b.png\"><br \/>\n<b>Research Objective:<\/b> Quest was considering new opportunities for customer segments and marketing methods. The DBI team was engaged to support Quest initiatives in Customer Experience, Digital Marketing and Analytics.<\/p>\n<p><b>Key Highlights:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Customer Experience:<\/b> Students worked with the customer experience, consumer &#038; hospital teams to create and update white papers, use cases, and Epic documentations for agile &#038; waterfall projects.<\/li>\n<li><b>Marketing Automation:<\/b> Students worked with Digital Marketing teams to create and update emails, landing pages, and forms.<\/li>\n<li><b>Analytics:<\/b> Worked with Market research and Analytics teams on Customer &#038; Forecasting Analytics and automation projects.<\/li>\n<p>The projects contributed to Quest\u2019s customer-centricity and sales growth.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">UCB Pharma, Brussels, Belgium<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><img src=\"\/dbi\/files\/2023\/04\/download-3.png\"><br \/>\n<b>Research Objective:<\/b> UCB, as part of their strategic growth agenda, was interested in identifying opportunities for new business models (specifically platform business models) in the healthcare industry.\u00a0The Digital Business Institute was asked to conduct research to identify such opportunities for UCB.<\/p>\n<p><b>Key Highlights:<\/b><br \/>\nThe Project was conducted in three phases.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Discover:<\/b>\u00a0 A team of students worked with UCB subject matter experts to align on specific research objectives, assess the current state, and document relevant examples both within and outside of the industry.\u00a0 \u00a0Professor Hagiu led a 3-hour online workshop with UCB Leadership as part of this phase.<\/li>\n<li><b>Describe:<\/b> In this phase the team wrote and delivered a preliminary research paper that presented hypotheses on opportunities for platform business models in the healthcare industry and at UCB.<\/li>\n<li><b>Design:<\/b> We finalized the research paper and proposed platform opportunities for UCB.<\/li>\n<p>The team of graduate and PhD students was led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/questrom\/profiles\/andrei-hagiu\/\">Andrei Hagiu<\/a>, Associate Professor at Boston University Questrom School of Business and <a href=\"\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/questrom\/profiles\/peter-howard\/\">Peter Howard<\/a>, Professor of the Practice and Executive Director of the Questrom Digital Business Institute.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Bard Center For The Study Of Hate<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><img src=\"\/dbi\/files\/2023\/11\/Bard-resized.png\"><br \/>\n<b>Research Objective:<\/b> BCSH was interested in creating a comprehensive, interactive, online resource about hate crime. The goals of the online resource were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide help for hate crime victims, informing them about how to report hate crimes and what local, regional, and national resources and online support is available<\/li>\n<li>Allow any interested person to learn more about hate, including any subset thereof (racism, homophobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, political hatreds, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Create opportunities for people interested in combating hate to find ways in the \u201creal world\u201d and online world to work against hate.<\/li>\n<li>Provide links to other resources, including manuals about how to deal with hate in a community, academic courses that teach about hate, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Key Accomplishments:<\/b><br \/>\nThe Digital Business Institute team of four graduate students, supervised by the institute Executive Director, executed the engagement in three phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Researched and wrote a comprehensive business plan<\/li>\n<li>Developed a funding plan and conduct outreach to potential funders<\/li>\n<li>Presented the plan to potential funders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The BCSH Director continues to discuss the proposal with other institutions as well as Meta.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Uno Pizzeria & Grill<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><img src=\"\/dbi\/files\/2023\/11\/Pizza-uno-logo.png\"><br \/>\n<b>Research Objective:<\/b> Pizzeria Uno wanted to revitalize their brand and determine if they could appeal to a younger customer base. The DBI launched a comprehensive research and digital marketing program with a focus on driving awareness and engagement among the younger demographic.<\/p>\n<p><b>Key Accomplishments:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Digital Strategy:<\/b> working closely with Uno\u2019s CEO and marketing lead, the team researched the market and social media platforms and then developed a multi-platform strategy for Uno&#8217;s\u2019 main brand and ghost brands, Detroit Pizza Works and Burger Craft.<\/li>\n<li><b>Content &#038; Engagement:<\/b> responsible for content planning, creation and execution on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger) and TikTok as well as customer experience management for all three brands<\/li>\n<li><b>Analytics:<\/b> managing digital performance across all platforms, including third-party sellers like UberEats and DoorDash.<\/li>\n<li><b>Influencer &#038; Campus Programs:<\/b> spearheading influencer campaigns and campus engagement initiatives.<\/li>\n<li><b>E-commerce Launch:<\/b> DBI&#8217;s engagement with Uno has expanded to include the creation and promotion of a merchandising e-commerce site on Shopify. The project involves product lineup selection, pricing, inventory strategies, collaboration with sourcing partners, and merchandise design.<\/li>\n<p><img src=\"\/dbi\/files\/2023\/11\/uno-team-with-CEO.jpg\"><br \/>\nA few members of the student team with Pizzeria Uno CEO, Erik Frederick. Pictured from left to right: Shrutkirti Wagh, Erik Frederick, Yudha Situmorang, Caron Cheung.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Rayyan<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><img src=\"\/dbi\/files\/2024\/10\/Rayyan.png\"><br \/>\n<b>Research Objective:<\/b> Rayyan is a rapidly growing start-up that uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing to\u00a0help research teams reduce the time it takes to complete their systematic and literature reviews. Founder and CEO Robert Ayon (Questrom alumnus) wanted to better understand the user experience and conversion funnel of his website visitors, and the pricing dynamics of their product.<br \/>\n<b>Key Initiatives:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Business Analysis<\/b> \u2013 general business analytics (CAC, LTV, Predictive modelling, etc).<\/li>\n<li><b>Market Research<\/b> \u2013 RAs developed, fielded and analyzed qualitative and quantitative research among existing and potential customers to uncover usage patterns, values and attitudes.
