Trends in Global and Local Supply Chains
Boston University’s Asian Alumni Business Forum, held in November 2022, featured Professor Nitin Joglekar (DBI Fellow) and Ishaan Gupta (Questrom’10). Professor Joglekar discussed trends in global supply chains and allied digitalization opportunities, based on his work with the World Economic Forum. Ishaan runs Gateway Distriparks – one of India’s largest multi-modal transportation networks, along with Snowman Logistics – India’s largest cold storage network. Ishaan addressed how supply chains for critical items, such as food, have evolved locally in India, during and after COVID-19.

Nitin Joglekar, Associate Professor, Operations and Technology Management, is currently serving as an expert on advanced manufacturing and supply chains, within the Global Futures Council, at the World Economic Forum. This piece is based on his observations from the recently concluded Davos Conference that was aimed at shaping the principles, policies, and partnerships needed towards Post-COVID-19 Recovery.

Nitin Joglekar co-authored a paper for the World Economic Forum Report 2020, Winning the Race for Survival: How Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Are Driving Business-Model Innovation. The shock brought on by the pandemic liberated companies to make numerous experiments. This paper explores what new business models might look like and how they are likely to interact with both existing operating and business models in the context of the new normal brought about by the pandemic.
