{"id":7508,"date":"2024-03-12T14:29:24","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T18:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cura\/?page_id=7508"},"modified":"2024-06-12T22:01:45","modified_gmt":"2024-06-13T02:01:45","slug":"jennifer-hunter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cura\/jennifer-hunter\/","title":{"rendered":"Assistant Director Jennifer Hunter"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/files\/2024\/01\/Jennifer-Hunter-210x300.jpeg\" class=\"alignright\" \/>Dr. Jennifer Hunter<\/h4>\n<h4>Assistant Director of the Institute on Culture, Religion, and World Affairs (CURA).<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/washington.academia.edu\/JenniferHunter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Dr. Jennifer Hunter<\/strong><\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>arrives to Boston from the University of Washington, where she earned a doctoral degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and a graduate certificate in Feminist Studies. While at UW, she held a variety of fellowships including the I. Mervin and Georgiana Gorasht Graduate Fellowship under the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jewishstudies.washington.edu\/jewish-history-and-thought\/ancient-world-theory-of-vision-ugly-babies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stroum Center for Jewish Studies<\/a><span>. And she bears the honor of being the first doctoral candidate in UW\u2019s Near and Middle Eastern Studies program to be awarded the school\u2019s prestigious Alvord Fellowship in the Humanities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Dr. Hunter brings a wealth of experience to her position at CURA. Prior to her doctoral work at UW, she taught religious studies courses as a full time faculty member for the Comparative Cultural Studies department at Northern Arizona University. And before her delve into higher education, she served in a variety of positions in primary and secondary educational institutions ranging from assistant speech coach, special education aide, AmeriCorps member for a Family Literacy program, school purchaser, and a parent and engagement liaison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In addition to a PhD, Dr. Hunter also holds a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Arizona University. Her research and writing focus on the religious history of the late antique Middle East and Mediterranean world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At CURA, Jennifer will be developing new programs, grant proposals, events, and help with the management of CURA\u2019s research colloquia and visiting fellows program.
