CURA Colloquium "Reforms of Purity and Authoritarianism"

With Maria Koutsouris, Phd Student, Graduate Program in Religion Maria will be looking at the Early Modern Catholic Counter-Reformation and their attempts to codify, control, and universalize the rite of exorcism. She will be comparing the official rite of exorcism in the Rituale Romanum (a ritual handbook emerging from the Conference of Trent) to a semi-official rite of exorcism popular in Italy. *Reading the paper in advance is required for attendance.
