CTSA Program Exploring Health Equity Through Telehealth

On March 26, 2021, The CTSA Program held an \u201cUn-meeting\u201d, organized by\u00a0<\/span>CLIC<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>CTSC of Cleveland<\/a>, on the topic of\u00a0<\/span>\u201cTackling the Digital Divide to Improve Telehealth\u201d<\/a>. This un-meeting brought together 104 participants, representing 32 CTSA hubs, to inform the consortium and those involved with telehealth about the relevance and criticalness of connecting team members while providing the best care possible.<\/p>\n

The Un-Meeting started with 7 brief 4×4 (4 slides x 4 minutes) presentations on: Telehealth in Clinical Use, Remote Monitoring, Payor Role in Telehealth Care Delivery, Telehealth and Underserved Areas, Patient Perspective on Telehealth, Connecting Urban Aging Residents through Telehealth, Telehealth for Chronic Conditions: Substance use disorder treatment model. One Year Later, the N3C Data Enclave Has Data for Over One Million COVID+ Patients<\/span><\/h3>\n

The\u00a0National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) Data Enclave<\/a>\u00a0is a one-of-a-kind collection of clinical data that the research community can use to study COVID-19 and identify potential treatments. It now has data derived from electronic health records of more than 4 million people, including more than 1 million patients who tested positive for COVID-19. Researchers interested in this cloud-based resource of harmonized data can register with N3C and submit a\u00a0Data Use Request<\/a>\u00a0for review by the N3C Data Access Committee. Learn more about the\u00a0process and requirements for data access, including data security training<\/a>. Access\u00a0updated toolkits from NCATS Communications<\/a>\u00a0to help spread the word.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

NOT-OD-21-074<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>replaces\u00a0<\/span>NOT-OD-21-069<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>– Announcement of Childcare Costs for Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellows issued on March 1, 2021 and corrects previously provided application instructions. NIH recognizes that the high cost of childcare impacts graduate students and post-doctorates funded through NRSA fellowships, and their ability to successfully complete their training and fully participate in the extramural research workforce. Therefore, as part of our ongoing efforts to support family-friendly work environments for the NIH-supported workforce, NIH will begin providing childcare support to recipients of NRSA fellowships, on or after April 8, 2021. In Phase 2 of this initiative, a similar cost will be provided for NRSA-supported trainees (anticipated early FY 2022). NEW – Advancing Health Literacy to Enhance Equitable Community Responses to COVID-19 Funding Opportunity<\/span><\/strong>

\n

As part of President Biden\u2019s National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness today, the Administration is announcing an effort to invest $250 million to encourage COVID-19 safety and vaccination among underserved populations. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) will offer the funding as health literacy grants to localities, who will partner with community-based organizations, to reach racial and ethnic minority, rural, and other vulnerable populations. The new initiative is expected to fund approximately 30 projects in urban communities and 43 projects in rural communities for two years. Cities, counties, parishes, or other similar subdivisions may apply for the funding. OMH will be accepting applications for this new initiative through April 20, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n
