COURSE INNOVATION GRANTS
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Faculty (both full- and part-time) are encouraged to apply for funds for use in Spring or Summer 2015 to engage in the development or redesign of courses.
These grants are designed to promote active, engaged classroom learning and linkages across departments, schools and colleges; engagement with the Boston-area community (for example, a community service component of a course, community-based research); “hands-on” scholarship/research/creative activities; addition of a global component; and extracurricular learning opportunities at Boston University. Course redesigns should be sustainable (they must be able to continue after the end of the grant). Awards will be for $500-$1500, with an upper limit of $2000.
Examples
Here are some examples of how funds might be used:
- Hiring undergraduate or graduate students to aid in the development or revision of a course or program.
- Purchasing materials or technology that will significantly enhance student learning in a course.
- Expenses related to meetings of faculty collaborators on the project.
- Expenses incurred in the use of technology toward specific learning goals.
- Summer stipend for faculty to spend time developing relationships with community partners.
Applications
Applications are due on October 1, 2014. Submit applications in a Word document to ceit@bu.edu. Applications should be no longer than two pages (single-spaced with double-spacing between paragraphs) and should include:
