There<\/span><\/span> are many way to collaborate with the BU CTE Center whether you\u2019re already a part of the Boston University community, interested in becoming a part of our community, or want to <\/span>access our data. Below you can find all of the ways to collaborate with us.<\/p>\n

Why collaborate with us?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BU CTE Center houses the world\u2019s largest brain tissue repository focused on chronic traumatic encephalopathy, led by Ann McKee, MD, a leading expert in CTE. The Center is connected with a top medical school and the VA Boston Healthcare System. The BU CTE Center is an interdisciplinary research and training environment with Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine faculty leading clinical trials, clinical research, and human brain bank studies. Investigators are involved in national and international collaborations to further the world\u2019s knowledge on CTE, Alzheimer\u2019s disease, ALS, PTSD, TBI, and other neurological conditions. Studies done at the BU CTE Center produce rich prospective and retrospective clinical, pathological, genetic, and neuroimaging data. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The BU CTE Center is invested in helping further the world\u2019s knowledge of CTE and we encourage investigators to request data and resources from our center to support their research needs and endeavors. \u00a0<\/em>Graduate Student Training and Research Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BU CTE Center has a strong history of working with and mentoring graduate and medical students interested in neurology, neuropsychology, neuroimaging, neuropathology, genetics, genomics, and related disciplines. You must be enrolled in a graduate-degree-earning program at Boston University to be considered for a graduate research student position. \u00a0<\/em>Undergraduate Student Research Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Occasionally, our faculty and staff will work on projects and mentor undergraduate students during a semester, or over the summer. These opportunities vary year-to-year and depend on a student\u2019s interests, long-term goals, availability, and previous experience\/coursework, as well as the availability of faculty\/staff. Interested students should email a cover letter and a CV to our Research Program Manager, Sophia Nosek (snosek@bu.edu).<\/p>\n

Tissue Recovery Specialists and Funeral Homes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professionals in the funeral industry are vital to the brain donation process. We rely on experienced brain recovery specialists, funeral directors, and medical examiners to help facilitate brain donations across the country.
