Filling knowledge gaps in exposure science, neuroimaging, and neuropathology

Dr. Michael Alosco and Colleagues, have been awarded a grant by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.  They will be using a special brain imaging scans called a fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and diffusion MRI to examine cerebral small vessel disease as a long-term consequence of repetitive head impacts that affect later-life clinical function. Participants will include former NFL players from Dr. Stern’s et al.’s DIAGNOSE CTE Research Project, as well as participants with Alzheimer’s disease dementia from the BU ADC.
