Matriculated graduate students who, within the previous five years, have completed graduate-level courses at other accredited institutions may petition for transfer of credit. These courses must have been completed with a grade of \u201cB\u201d or higher. Only graduate level courses are appropriate for transfer and only if they were not used to fulfill the requirements of a previously awarded degree. Graduate courses taken at Metropolitan College before acceptance into the degree program are not considered to be transfer courses.<\/p>\n
A petition for approval of credits for transfer form must be submitted to the Department within the first six months <\/strong>after acceptance to the degree or certificate program. Petitions must be accompanied by an official transcript, a syllabus, and a course description from the catalog proving the course is a graduate level course. In special cases, MS degree candidates may be allowed to take a graduate course outside Metropolitan College. In such cases, approval must be obtained before registering for the course.<\/p>\n Metropolitan College evaluates transfer units based on the course content, grade, level, as well as the comparability and applicability of the course(s) to fulfill degree requirements of the intended program of study. The accreditation of the institution at which the work was completed is also taken into account. A\u202fmaximum of eight units<\/strong>\u202fmay be transferred from other institutions into a MET master’s degree program that requires a total of 32 units or more. A\u202fmaximum of four units<\/strong>\u202fmay be transferred from other institutions into a MET Graduate Certificate program that requires a total of 16 units or more. Programs may set a lower maximum number of units that may be transferred. Students may not use units or other work used to satisfy the requirements of another degree earned at Boston University or another institution to fulfill the requirements of a master\u2019s degree at Metropolitan College, unless such transfers have been approved for a specific program and institution. Some MET master\u2019s programs may recognize up to 8 units for holders of approved professional credentials or certifications. Units should be earned in the last five years and be at a grade of B or higher<\/strong>. Individual exceptions to the above policy can be petitioned through the Metropolitan College Dean\u2019s Office. Exceptions may be warranted only in rare circumstances.<\/p>\n
