MET Computer Science and Distance Education Authors Team Up for a Second Book

Hot on the heels of Best Practices for Administering Online Programs (New York: Routledge, 2021), three BU Metropolitan College coauthors have regrouped to produce another book: Winning Online Instruction: A Q&A for Higher Education Faculty (New York: Routledge, 2022)

Dr. Dan Hillman, associate director of instructional design for BU MET’s Office of Distance Education; Dr. Anatoly TemkinProfessor Anatoly Temkin, assistant professor and chair of BU MET’s Department of Computer Science; and Dr. Robert Schudy, associate professor emeritus of computer science, combine their collective expertise to explore the ins and outs of online pedagogy, using a Q&A format to produce “concise, pragmatic solutions to common challenges and demands that higher education faculty face in teaching online.” With chapters that move from “The Basics of Teaching Online” to “Addressing Online Student Issues,” to “Promoting Academic Integrity in Online Courses,” Winning Online Instruction serves as a practical guide to the secrets of effective teaching in the online format.

Previously, Dr. Temkin and Dr. Hillman were awarded the 2014 Blackboard Catalyst Award for Exemplary Course Program for their work designing Introduction to Probability and Statistics (MET CS 546), part of MET’s online Computer Information Systems master’s degree program.
