ASB Chaperone Application

Thank you for your interest in serving as an Alternative Service Breaks chaperone! Alternative Service Breaks (ASB) is an opportunity that connects BU volunteers with communities across the USA for a week-long service project. ASB seeks to foster genuine connections between program participants and community partners, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, diversity, intentional service and a deeper understanding of social justice.

Trip chaperones are instrumental to the success of the ASB program!  Chaperones are BU faculty and staff  who accompany undergraduate student coordinators and volunteers to communities across the nation to take part in service during spring break. Additionally, they serve as the university representative for the duration of the ASB trip, and are responsible for all financial transactions, help resolve emergency situations that arise, and support the groups’ service-related activities throughout the week. Being a chaperone is a rewarding experience and is a great opportunity to give back and connect with a small group of BU students.

We are no longer accepting chaperone applications for ASB 2024, but please email us at altbreak@bu.edu if you would like to be considered for future chaperone opportunities.
