BU Siblings offers two types of volunteer programs in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mass. Bay: our Campus-Based Program and our Community Partner-Based Program. In these programs, BU student ‘Bigs’ are paired with youth ‘Littles’ (ages 7-12) from the Grove Hall community of Boston to form a meaningful mentorship/friendship between Bigs and Littles!

Our campus-based program meets on campus every other week, and the community partner-based program meets at the Littles’ school every week. Bigs and Littles will engage in fun activities that will foster new and ongoing match relationships! Here is a quick overview of what the two Sibling programs will look like this fall:

Campus-Based: Bigs meet biweekly (twice a month) for ~2.5 hours on Saturdays during the academic year and participate in planned group and individual activities with their Little.

Community Partner-Based: Bigs meet with their Littles individually once a week for ~40 minutes during their Littles’ lunch periods.

This is a two-year (four-semester) commitment, so if you’re a rising senior or are planning on studying abroad this year, you are sadly ineligible for the program this year.

BU Sibs envisions a world where all children have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We have partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mass Bay to provide youth ages 7-12 with strong and enduring one-to-one friendships that change their lives for the better, forever. All siblings have the opportunity to find common ground with each other while breaking down any barriers that may be found through different identities and levels of ability. The safe space that we will create within Siblings will be an environment of support, growth, and education.
