Global Days of Service 2021 Service Leader Application

Thank you for applying to be a Global Days of Service (GDS) 2021 Service Leader! Being a Service Leader is an excellent way to take on a short-term leadership role in the Community Service Center while learning more about our partners across the Greater Boston area and about how to best serve them and other communities.

As a Service Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transport (if any) of volunteer groups from campus to site and back. You will also be expected to lead on-site/virtual education and reflection activities with volunteers about your respective community partner, project, and/or focus area in relation to the Greater Boston community. Other expectations involve: arriving 30 minutes early for in-person service and 15 minutes early for virtual service to check in with the Program Managers; thoroughly reviewing training and/or introductory materials prior to your Day of Service.

In this application, we will be asking you some questions to learn more about you and your experiences in order to make our Days of Service the best they can be. We will also ask for your availability and your preference for organizations to serve with. We cannot guarantee that you will receive your first choice, but we will make considerations based on your rankings and responses. Please note that you may receive your decision notification at short notice (i.e. 1-2 days before the Service Day) due to registration trends and last-minute changes, but we will work with you to ensure that you feel prepared to take on this leadership role.

If you have any questions, please email cscpr@bu.edu or call the CSC at 617-353-4710.
