Additional information regarding the rationale and goals for community-wide training can be found here: University-wide Training on Sexual Misconduct | Office of the Provost (bu.edu)

Sexual Misconduct Prevention trainings for faculty and staff are delivered through BU’s Terrier eDevelopment Learning Management Platform (LMS), with different training assignments based on supervisory responsibilities. Completion of the assigned module(s) is required for employees to qualify for the merit increase process. New employees are required to complete their assigned course(s) within two weeks from their start date.

BU Student Health Services (SHS) administers online sexual misconduct training to BU students, with different assignments based on student status:

Incoming undergraduate students complete Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates.

Incoming graduate and non-degree students complete Sexual Assault Prevention for Graduate Students.

Varsity student-athletes complete an additional, annual leadership training called Sexual Assault Prevention for Student Athletes.

Continuing undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree students complete a refresher training called Sexual Assault Prevention Ongoing: Taking Action

Each training is designed to address specific goals and learning objectives. You can learn more about what’s covered in the trainings on the SHS website.

Students who do not complete training are unable to use the course planner or register for classes their second semester of coursework. Training is enforced through a hold on student course registration. This hold goes into effect during a student’s first semester of coursework. Some students remain non-compliant because they 1) have not completed training and 2) have not attempted to register for classes in a future semester. This is particularly common among the population of non-degree students.

Please visit the SHS website to learn more about student training requirements.

Small-Group Trainings at BU

SARP and EOO routinely hold small-group trainings that target particular topics.
