Under the menu on the left hand side, click Enrollment. Then select Enrollment Dates. Your appointment will be listed there. Make sure to look under Spring 2026!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The official registration schedule for all of BU is posted publicly: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/calendars\/registration\/\">https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/calendars\/registration\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Can I change my registration appointment?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">No, all registration appointments are final.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classes<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is the difference between CS350 and CS351? <\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">CS351 counts for the same Group C requirement as CS350. However, <\/span>CS350 and CS351 are<span>\u00a0<\/span><b>slightly different classes<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span>CS 350 &#8211; Fundamentals of Computing Systems &#8211; \u00a0is focused on how to optimize the work on\u00a0<b>one<\/b>\u00a0computer &#8211; e.g. how should computing resources be allocated, scheduler, etc. It uses primarily C and Java. It is\u00a0<b>not\u00a0<\/b>being offered this upcoming Fall semester.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0CS351 &#8211; Distributed Systems &#8211;\u00a0 is about how to have\u00a0<b>multiple<\/b>\u00a0computers work together. It uses Go and Java. It\u00a0<b>is<\/b>\u00a0being offered this semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span>CS351\u00a0<\/span><b>does<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span>count towards your Group C courses. However, it will not appear in your Degree Progress on MyBU automatically.\u00a0<\/span><b>You will need to email your advisor or<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:csadvise@bu.edu\" title=\"mailto:csadvise@bu.edu\" data-linkindex=\"1\"><span>csadvise@bu.edu<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>to ensure that the course count towards your CS degree<\/b>. <b><\/b><span>You\u00a0<b>cannot<\/b>\u00a0take CS351 and CS350 to fulfill all of your Group C requirements. You must also complete CS332 or CS320 in addition to any CS350\/CS351 course you take. If you take CS350 and CS351, one of the courses will count towards your Group D requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How many classes should I register for?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Generally, most students should register for 4 classes (16 units\/credits). In order to stay on track with CS, we recommend that you register for 2 major classes, and 2 classes that satisfy other requirements (Hub, 2nd language, minor requirements, etc).<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What classes should I register for?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">If you\u2019re not sure what to register for, make an appointment with your advisor. But, you should register for classes that fulfill requirements. Examples: If you have 2 Group D (CS electives) courses to take, register for those. If you need to fulfill your Aesthetic Exploration Hub unit, search for some classes that fulfill that requirement. If you need to complete your second language requirement, choose a language course to enroll in!<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What if a class I want to register for is full?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">You can monitor the seats in the course and try to register if someone drops the course.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Are there waitlists for full classes in the CS department?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Any waitlists available for a full course will be accessible directly on MYBU Class Search.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is a prerequisite and why do I have to take them?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A prerequisite is a course that you must complete before registering for another course. For example, CS111, Introduction to Computer Science, is a prerequisite to CS112, Introduction to Computer Science 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prerequisites are important because, in this scenario, the class material from CS112 builds on the material the CS111 teaches. It would be hard to successfully complete CS112 without properly learning the material from the course before it. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Do I need to satisfy the prerequisites for my classes?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Yes, CS prerequisites are strictly enforced. If you do not meet the prerequisites for a class, you will not be able to take the course and will be removed from the class.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Do I have to take a natural science class for a CAS requirement?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The new CAS natural science requirement is only a requirement for students who entered into CAS in<span>\u00a0<\/span><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">Fall 2025<\/b><span>\u00a0<\/span><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">and beyond<\/b>. This includes first years and new transfer students who started in Fall 2025, but also includes students who joined CAS In Fall 2025 through an intra-university transfer (IUT) or through a dual degree program (DDP).<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Can I take multiple CS topics classes?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Y<span>es, provided they are about different topics. For example, you can take both CS391 A1 and CS391 S1 in the same or different semesters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Can I take more than two project-based courses towards Group D?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Yes! The degree progress text is outdated.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advising<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><p class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I have an advising hold on my account - what is that?<\/p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Only first semester students have an advising hold on their account. This means that you will have to meet with an advisor to get that hold lifted.
