Lecturer

Perry Donham has taught at BU for 17 years, starting as an adjunct the Metropolitan College, and recently joined the faculty of CAS/CS as a Lecturer. During that time his coursework has included a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in computer science (C++ programming, operating systems, networks, OO architecture and design), administrative sciences (marketing, technical project management, and project communications) and leadership studies. At CAS/CS he teaches CS101, Introduction to Computer Science, and CS411, Software Engineering.

Mr. Donham spent most of his professional career as a technical consultant and analyst in the financial services and healthcare fields, helping clients solve performance issues, build new systems, and solve tricky computational problems. His experience ranges from architecture of large systems to writing code to automate small problems. As an analyst he focused on back-end, enterprise-level systems, searching for best practices in an effort to help clients such as HP and IBM improve their business infrastructure. In 1995 he launched one of the world’s first 10,000 web sites, which is still running. He brings this varied experience to the classroom and gives his students a good understanding of how systems and software are developed in the ‘real’ world.
