Ioana Baldini is a Research Staff Member at IBM Research AI. She obtained her Ph.D. and Masters from the University of Toronto, Canada. Her research background is varied, spanning computer hardware, the performance of complex systems, and cloud infrastructure. As a result of collaborating with data scientists on science for social good projects, Ioana recently decided to jump ship to machine learning and AI. She is currently interested in applying natural language processing techniques to applications with social impact. Science for Social Good Launched in 2016, IBM Science for Social Good Initiative partners IBM Research scientists and engineers with academic fellows, subject matter experts from a diverse range of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to tackle emerging societal challenges using science and technology.
