BU Schedules Informational Town Halls Regarding New Federal Cap on International Students’ Time in the US
On behalf of the University, the Department of Computer Science is sharing important information regarding a new U.S. policy affecting via holders, including international students and scholars, that will go into effect in September 15, 2026.

Boston University has scheduled virtual, University-wide town halls, and virtual webinars for specific groups, about new federal limits on the time international students can spend at US colleges and universities.
Boston University’s International Students & Scholars Office (ISSO) will host a series of virtual town halls for the BU community to explain the new rule. We encourage you to participate in one of the following town hall sessions if your available:
- Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00 am (register here)
- Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 1:00 pm (register here)
- Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 4:00 pm (register here)
