As a result, we will not accept applications in Fall 2026 (for 2027-28 academic year).<\/p>\n<p>The application portal will reopen in Fall 2027 for admission to the 2028-29 academic year, and we look forward to welcoming applications then. Please direct questions about this temporary admissions pause to Creative Writing Program Administrator Annaka Saari at crwr@bu.edu.<\/p>\n<h2>General Information<\/h2>\n<p>Application instructions are available at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/admissions\/phd-mfa\/apply\/\">Graduate School of Arts and Sciences website,<\/a> which has the link to the online application. The application fee is $95.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">The Boston University Creative Writing Program accepts applications for admission for the fall semester in any given calendar year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Your Application<\/h2>\n<p>The application for the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing will include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><strong>Writing sample.<\/strong> For poetry, submit ten poems. For fiction, submit no more than forty double-spaced pages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Personal statement.<\/strong> This should be no more than two double-spaced pages in length.<\/li>\n<li><strong>At least two letters of recommendation.<\/strong> Our application system can accept up to three letters. <strong>All letters must be received by the application deadline. <\/strong>Recommenders must upload letters online, and <strong>our program does not accept letters through Interfolio.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Up-to-date CV.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Transcripts from any college or university you have previously attended.<\/strong> Please submit all transcripts, including those from institutions that did not award you a degree.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Optional: Examination scores from the GRE General Test.<\/strong> We no longer require you take the GRE in order to be accepted into our program. If you have already taken the test, please feel free to send your scores. Our GRE code is 3087.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please DO NOT send any materials to the Creative Writing office.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>For International Applicants:<\/h2>\n<p>International students must supply additional paperwork, and in some cases, scores from an English proficiency exam.
