Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) supports the University community to meet its strategic priorities through exemplary planning, design, and construction services.\u00a0\u00a0We are stewards for the built environment so students, faculty, and staff can live, learn, teach, work, and thrive.\u00a0\u00a0We promote an inclusive, collaborative, and caring culture to ensure diverse perspectives are considered in all our work.<\/span><\/p>\n

PDC is organized in 3 groups \u2013 Campus Planning, Annual Capital Projects, and Major Capital Projects and a myriad of consultants and contractors, overseeing 200+ projects a year averaging $140 million in spending.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Campus Planning<\/b> focuses on the University\u2019s long-range planning, guiding campus development in a way that gives physical form to the University\u2019s mission, vision, and programs through the effective use of human, environmental, and financial resources. In addition, this division is responsible for the management of a comprehensive program for collecting, maintaining, analyzing, and managing the University\u2019s space utilization information for all academic, research, and administrative units on and off-campus, which occupy over 15 million gross square feet in 370+ properties domestically and internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Annual Capital Projects <\/b>group oversees a wide range of projects a year valued at less than $15 million dollars each.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Major Projects<\/b>\u00a0group is dedicated to high-profile major renovations and new construction projects greater than $15 million.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Capital Planning<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Long before a single brick is laid, Planning, Design & Construction provides historical insight and cost estimates to <\/span>University<\/span> administrators, while proposed renovations and new buildings are conceptualized. Through collaboration with the Office of the Provost, Office of the Senior Vice President for Operations, Office of the Budget, and colleagues within Campus Planning & Operations, members of Planning, Design & Construction participate in the University sub-SPACE Committee, which thoroughly reviews all capital projects and space changes before they are presented to the University SPACE Committee for final approval. The purpose is to ensure that all capital projects and space changes are logistically feasible, accurately estimated, and adhere to the University\u2019s strategic plan.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Project Management<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Planning, Design & Construction plays a key role in the planning, execution, and review of all new construction and renovation projects on all campuses.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Responsibilities during an active project include coordination of project schedule, costs, and fabrication to ensure minimal disruption to occupants, cost efficiency, and quality control. Following the completion of a project, Planning, Design & Construction is responsible for reviewing the completed project with project stakeholders and for providing updated operation and maintenance requirements to CPO\u2019s Facilities Management & Operations department.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
