Warren Towers Construction Update – 4/10/26
General Project Information
- Weekday shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift), 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (1st shift for work outside/adjacent to student rooms), 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (2nd shift), and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (3rd shift). Weekend shifts operate from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.
- Entering the jobsite: Authorized personnel only and no trespassing. Anyone wishing to enter the site must sign in at the construction office, observe and comply with all posted signage and personnel protective equipment requirements.

Saturday & Sunday (1st and 2nd shift)
Exterior Work
Tower A
4th Floor Podium Roofs
- Low roofs will be used as laydown areas for tools, supplies, and materials as the staging is getting disassembled.
- Parapet demolition will take place east and west of Tower A above the dining hall.
- Staging crews will be removing their material from the lower roof levels using a mobile crane.
East and West Facades
- Sealing and caulking of windows and metal trim panels.
- Masons are working on punch list items and touchups identified by the design team.
Front Façade and on Commonwealth Avenue
- Sealing and caulking of windows and metal trim panels.
- Masons are working on punch list items and touchups identified by the design team.
- Installation of new door opening on the sidewalk at the fire pump room.
Rear Façade and Back Alley
- Steel stud framing of window openings and closing of the building access leave out sections.
- Installation of windows and metal trim along with caulking.
- Disassembly of the hoist way access bridge.
Upper Roof
- Work on the emergency backup generator connections continues.
- Work continues inside the new mechanical penthouse and emergency electric room.
- Assembly and installation of the DOAS unit, piping, sheet metal ductwork, and electrical connections continue.
- Installation of metal panel roof screen.
Tower B
North, South, East, and West Facades
- Staging crews will continue assembling scaffolding on levels 5 through 18.
West Podium Terrace
- Assembly and installation of heat pumps and condensers, including piping and electrical connections.
- Carpenters are working on the acoustic roof screen assembly.
Multipurpose Room Roof (Podium D)
- Work continues on constructing the new boiler room.
- Installation of new roofing system and parapets.
Cummington Mall
(In and around the fenced area)
- Daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials will be received at the construction loading docks within the fenced area.
- Two-car personnel and materials hoist way remains in operation.
- (The elevator operators begin their safety checks and preventative maintenance on the hoistway daily at 6:00 AM)
- Tower B hoist way bridge construction is ongoing.
- Crane work lifting materials to the lower roofs.
Cummington Mall West
- BUPD detail officers and construction staff will be on-site to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Hinsdale Mall
- Crews are installing scaffolding on the east end of the building.
- A crane will be set up in the street to load staging materials onto the lower podium roof, which will close the street down to through traffic. Warren Towers Garage (lot K) will remain open.
- Please watch for sidewalk closures, BUPD detail officers, cones, and observe posted signage.
Interior Work
Tower A
- Rough-in of HVAC piping, electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, and sheet-metal ductwork is ongoing.
- Pressure testing of mechanical piping and sheet metal ductwork.
- Steel stud framing of interior partitions and soffits.
- Installation of hollow metal door frames.
- Application of spray fireproofing, expanding foam insulation, and firestopping continues.
- New window installation continues.
- Drywall installation and taping.
- Plaster patching at columns and beams continues.
- Stair handrail and riser alterations.
- Prime and painting of walls, ceilings, soffits, doors, and door frames.
- Floor preparation, waterproofing, and tile installation are ongoing in the core bathrooms.
- Resilient flooring and base installations in student dorm rooms.
- Wall tile installation in corridors.
- Installation of doors, hardware, millwork, and accessories.
- Installation of solid surface countertops, windowsills, and hand drier panels.
- Modernization of the tower elevators by Otis Elevator Company continues.
- Finalization of plumbing, electrical and mechanical, and fire protection in progress.
- Interior final cleaning is ongoing.
Dining Hall
- Crews will be working above ceiling making drain connections on 3rd shift, after hours.
Parking Garage
- Electricians will continue running wiring, conduits, and electrical gear throughout the parking garage, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Installation and assembly of electrical gear continues.
- Plumbers are installing new water and drain lines in the basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Installation of mechanical piping continues.
- Construction of the new fuel storage room is ongoing in the southeast basement level of the parking garage.
- MDF room construction continues.
- Concrete and steel structural repair work continues in the parking garage on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.
- Sprinkler work continues on all levels.
- Masons continue installing block walls in the new mechanical and electrical rooms.

West Podium Terrace
- Assembly and installation of heat pumps and condensers continue, along with piping and electrical connections.
- Carpenters will be working on the roof screen assembly.
- Masons are installing block veneer.
Multipurpose Room Roof (Podium D)
- Work continues constructing the new boiler room.
- Installation of new roofing system and parapets.
Cummington Mall
(In and around the fenced area)
- Daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials will continue.
- Crane work lifting materials to the lower roofs.
- Two-car personnel and materials hoist way remains in operation.
- (Elevator operators begin daily safety checks and preventative maintenance at 6:00 a.m.).
- Crews will continue assembling the temporary elevator hoist way, bridge, and loading dock for Tower B.
- This work impacts two entry and exit doors in 111 Cummington Mall, adjusted egress paths will be noted on site signage.
Cummington Mall West
- BUPD detail officers and construction staff will be on-site.
Hinsdale Mall
- Crews are installing scaffolding on the east end of the building.
- Watch for sidewalk closures, BUPD detail officers, cones, and observe signage.

- Weekly trade inspections of work will be done by officials from Boston Inspectional Services.
- Third-party inspectors remain onsite as needed.
Dining Hall
- Crews will be working above ceiling making drain connections on 3rd shift during after hours.
Parking Garage
- Electricians will continue running wiring and conduits throughout the parking garage on levels 1 through 3.
- Installation of electrical gear continues.
- Plumbers will continue installing new water and drain lines in the basement and levels 1 through 3.
- Mechanical piping installation continues.
- Construction of the new fuel storage room is ongoing in the southeast basement level of the parking garage.
- MDF room construction continues.
- Concrete and steel structural repair work continues on levels 1 through 3.
- Work on sprinklers continues.
- Masons will continue installing block walls in the new mechanical and electric rooms.
- Temporary heaters remain in operation on Level 3.
