Warren Towers Renovation Construction Update – 3/6/26 & 3/13/26
General Project Information
- Weekday shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift), 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (1st shift for work outside/adjacent to student rooms), 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (2nd shift), and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (3rd shift). Weekend shifts operate from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.

Saturday & Sunday (1st and 2nd shift)
Exterior Work
Tower A
4th Floor Podium Roofs
- Low roofs will be used as laydown areas for tools, supplies, and materials.
- Staging crews will be loading their material onto the lower roof levels using a mobile crane.
East & West Facades
- Masons will continue exterior brick veneer restoration work, including selective demolition and installation of restoration anchors, air-, water-, and vapor-barrier systems, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.
Front Façade and on Commonwealth Ave.
- Masons will continue exterior brick veneer restoration work, including selective demolition and installation of restoration anchors, air-, water-, and vapor-barrier systems, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.
Rear Façade and Back Alley
- Installation of windows and metal trim.
- Masons will continue with exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, air, water, and vapor barriers, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.
- The West end of the South Alley will be impacted and temporarily closed for work in a heated tent at the new electrical room.
Upper Roof
- Work on the emergency backup generator connections continues.
- Work continues constructing the new mechanical penthouse and emergency electric room.
- Assembly and installation of the DOAS unit, piping, sheet metal ductwork, and electrical connections continue.
Tower B
North, South, East, and West Facades
- Staging crews will continue assembling scaffolding on levels 5 through 12.
West Podium Terrace
- Assembly and installation of heat pumps and condensers, including piping and electrical connections, continues on the mechanical platform.
Multipurpose Room Roof (Podium D)
- Work continues constructing the new boiler room.
Cummington Mall
(In and around the fenced area)
- Daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials will be received at the construction loading docks within the fenced area.
- The two-car personnel and materials hoist way remains in operation.
- (The elevator operators begin their safety checks and preventative maintenance on the hoistway daily at 6:00 AM)
- Tower B hoist way bridge construction is ongoing.
Cummington Mall West/ Hinsdale Mall
- BUPD detail officers and construction staff will be on-site to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Commonwealth Ave.
- Installation of an entry door at the fire pump room.
Interior Work
Tower A
- Rough-in of HVAC piping, electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, and sheet-metal ductwork is ongoing.

- Pressure testing of mechanical piping and sheet metal ductwork.
- Steel stud framing of interior partitions and soffits.

- Installation of hollow metal door frames.
- Application of spray fireproofing, expanding foam insulation, and firestopping continues.
- New window installation continues.
- Drywall installation and taping.

- Plaster patching at columns and beams continues.
- Stair handrail and riser alterations.
- Prime and painting of walls, ceilings, soffits, doors, and door frames.
- Floor preparation, waterproofing, and tile installation are ongoing in the core bathrooms.

- Flooring and base installations in student dorm rooms.
- Modernization of the Tower elevators by Otis Elevator Company continues on Saturdays and Sundays.

Dining Hall
- Crews will be working above the ceiling, making drain connections on 3rd shift, after hours.
Multipurpose Room
- Crews will be working in the ceiling, reworking the roof drain piping.
Res Life Office
- Crews will be installing shoring posts.
Parking Garage
- Electricians will continue running wiring, conduits, and electrical gear throughout the parking garage, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Plumbers are installing new water and drain lines in the basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Concrete and steel structural repair work continues in the parking garage on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.
- Sprinkler work continues on the basement and Levels 1 through 3.
- Masons continue installing block walls in the new mechanical and electrical rooms.

Cummington Mall

- Daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials will be received at the construction loading docks in the fenced-in area.
- Crane work lifting materials to the lower roofs
- The two-car personnel and materials hoist way remains in operation.
- (Elevator operators begin daily safety checks and preventative maintenance at 6:00 a.m.).
- Crews will continue assembling the temporary two-car elevator hoist way, bridge, and loading dock for Tower B.

- This work impacts 2 entry/exit doors in 111 Cummington Mall. Please observe site signage for adjusted egress paths.
Cummington Mall West
- BUPD detail officers and Construction Staff will be on-site to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Hinsdale Mall
- BUPD detail officers and Construction Staff will be on-site to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Commonwealth Avenue
- Crews are cutting in a new door opening into the Fire Pump Room, working in a temporary enclosure on the Commonwealth Ave. sidewalk.

- Rough-in of HVAC piping, electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, and sheet metal ductwork is ongoing.

- Pressure testing of mechanical piping and sheet metal ductwork.
- Steel stud framing of interior partitions and soffits.
- Installation of hollow metal door frames.
- Application of spray fireproofing, expanding foam insulation, and firestopping continues.
