Our third floor houses a WhisperRoom Booth, perfect for solo recording sessions of voice over, narration or even dubbing audio. You can record via laptop or USB stick/SD card.

(The audio system cannot handle a storage device larger than 32GB, please use as small of a USB stick or SD card as possible if you must record to a physical memory device.)

Recording Direct to Laptop (Recommended Method)

Plug the labelled USB Cable directly into your laptop.

Open your “Sound Preferences” and go to the “Input” settings.

Select “Rode AI-1” as the input source/microphone

Open your preferred recording software (we recommend Adobe Audition)

Adjust the gain (mic sensitivity) by rotating the knob on the far right until the audio peaks around an average of -12 or -8.

Press the record button in the software and save/export your file when finished.

Recording to an External Storage Device

Insert either an SD card or USB stick into the dedicated slot on the device inside the VO Booth.

If needed, reformat the device according to the instructions displayed in the booth.
Adjust the gain (mic sensitivity) by rotating the knob on the far right until the audio peaks around an average of -12 or -8.

Press the record button to begin, the small screen will then begin to track the duration of your recording, and your audio is in the correct range if the lights above the gain knob light green consistently.

When finished, hit the stop button and eject your device. To listen back to your recording, before ejecting the device, stop the recording and then hit play.
