The role of Tech Director may seem stressful but it is ultimately straightforward. Think of the News Director as a conductor, the role of the Tech Director is to simply follow their lead. The most important thing to keep track of is what is on “Program” or “Live” versus what is being previewed. Review the script in Rundown Creator before every shoot to know the general order of stories and when to switch from camera shots to playing a package. If ever the board seems confusing or overwhelming, our staff located on the third floor are happy to assist with any student recording sessions.
