Most COM classrooms are equipped with a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera system that has microphones and an established camera for a class to host a guest speaker or collaborate virtually. These cameras are installed to face the instructor and mimic a student’s perspective. These cameras can be used with any video-conferencing (such as Zoom) or recording software hosted on either a personal laptop or the classroom’s instructor station.
If a classroom does not have a camera or microphone already built into the instructor monitor or the ceiling of the classroom, portable webcams and microphones are available to borrow from IT Office 205. If you need additional help setting up the microphone and camera please reach out to our staff at comhelp@bu.edu or stop by one of our offices to ask for assistance.
