Discovery, delivered Boston University\u2019s 150th Commencement Address during the ceremony and was awarded an honorary degree.\u00a0Others who also received honorary degrees are:<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Pamela Wood Avedisian<\/strong>, philanthropist and accomplished pianist;<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Ketanji Brown Jackson<\/strong>, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court;<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Stephen R. Karp<\/strong>, prominent real estate developer, Boston University Trustee Emeritus and alumnus; and<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Drew Weissman<\/strong>, Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. A citation will be recited for the late<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Edward Avedisian<\/strong>, alumnus, philanthropist, and career clarinetist, whose honorary degree was conferred in December.\u00a0The<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Reverend Doctor Robert Allan Hill<\/strong>, dean of Marsh Chapel, delivered the Baccalaureate Address.<\/p>\n<p><span>The 2023 recipients of the University\u2019s highest teaching honors, the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/provost\/awards-publications\/award-opportunities\/university-wide-teaching-awards\/metcalf\/\">Metcalf Cup and Prize and Metcalf Awards for Excellence in Teaching<\/a><span>, were honored during the main Commencement ceremony. <strong>Karin S. Hendricks<\/strong>, College of Fine Arts, was awarded The Metcalf Cup and Prize for Excellence in Teaching. <strong>Stephanie L.
