Faculty Information

All full-time faculty are invited to participate in individual school/college convocation ceremonies and the All-University Commencement on Sunday, May 21 at 1 pm at Nickerson Field.

Academic Dress

If you choose to participate in academic ceremonies, academic dress is required.

Caps, gowns, and hoods can be rented through your school/college Commencement Coordinator (listed on the Convocations page) from Barnes & Noble at BU. All faculty rental orders must be submitted by Wednesday, February 22.

Rental regalia will be delivered to the schools/colleges/departments by early May.

Rental robes are black, and the rental caps are the octagonal tams also worn by BU doctoral candidates. Through an intercollegiate agreement, Barnes & Noble at BU can provide almost all hoods corresponding to your highest degree and awarding institution.

Purchase Custom Regalia

Custom-made gowns, hoods, and caps/tams are also available for purchase; pricing is based on requirements. Custom orders may be placed at any time, but to ensure arrival by Commencement, orders must be made by Friday, March 31.  Order Custom BU Regalia

All-University Commencement Line-Up

Faculty participating in the Sunday, May 21 All-University Commencement should line up at Claflin Hall, accessible via the walkway adjacent to 985 Commonwealth Avenue. Please arrive at Claflin no later than 12:15 pm.

We will provide refreshments and a secure place to leave personal items during the ceremony. University Marshals will assist you with the faculty procession onto Nickerson Field.

Please consult your school/college Commencement Coordinator regarding arrangements for individual convocation ceremonies and other activities.

Commencement Weekend Parking

The majority of University parking lots will be open on Commencement Weekend. Faculty and Staff parking locations can be found on the Parking & Transportation Services website closer to Commencement.

Throughout the weekend, the University will provide convenient shuttle bus service along Commonwealth Avenue. Check back closer to Commencement for the shuttle bus map.
