He is the author (or editor) of five books and over 50 articles on participatory urban technology, including The Urban Spectator (Dartmouth, 2010), Net Locality (Blackwell, 2011), Civic Media (MIT Press, 2016), Ludics (Palgrave, 2021), and Meaningful Inefficiencies (Oxford, 2020). In addition to his scholarship, he has led dozens of collaborative design projects all over the world that bring the public and civic sectors together to foster democratic process with technology.
