Faculty, staff, and students are also welcome to nominate a graduate student who has excelled in the areas of academics, leadership, service, and professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applications for nominations are now open.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Nomination Period: August 1<sup>st <\/sup>\u2013 October 15<sup>th<\/sup>, 2026<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>COM Graduate Student Awards<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Both master\u2019s students and Ph.D. students at the College of Communication are eligible for nomination. Qualified students should be nominated by current faculty members, staff, or fellow current students. Self-nominations are also accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t<div\n\t\tclass=\"wp-block-bu-collapsible js-wp-block-bu-collapsible is-open icon-style-plus-minus is-style-plain\"\n\t\tstyle=\"\"\n\t\tid=\"bu-collapsible-67e569cb\"\n\t\tdata-default-open=\"false\"\n\t>\n\t\t<h2 class=\"bu-collapsible-heading\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"bu-block-collapsible-toggle js-bu-block-collapsible-toggle\" id=\"bu-collapsible-67e569cb-toggle\">\n\t\t\t\t\tGraduate Student of the Year\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"bu-block-collapsible-content js-bu-block-collapsible-content\" id=\"bu-collapsible-67e569cb-panel\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p>This award recognizes <strong>one<\/strong> exemplary graduate student (including Ph.D. students) for their characteristics (such as, but not limited to, adaptability, creativity, generosity, humility, reliability, professionalism, and responsibility), leadership in a professional project and\/or campus activities and\/or student organizations, outstanding contributions to Boston University and\/or their service and impact to \u201cCOMmunity\u201d, excellent performance in an internship or on-campus work, and academic achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees must be COM graduate students in good academic standing (full- or part-time) and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. They must complete at least one academic year of study in a COM graduate degree program. The award winner would have made a distinctive contribution to their field of study. Their academic excellence includes but is not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>distinguished performance in scholarly or research pursuit<\/li><li>quality of papers or theses<\/li><li>contribution to a research project<\/li><li>projects conducted in an academic setting or conference<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students who are qualified for this award should maintain excellent standing (full- or part-time) during their study in their academic program and have a minimum GPA of 3.5. It provides academic departments with an annual opportunity to recognize master\u2019s students who have made meaningful contributions to teaching, learning, mentoring, academic support, and student success at the College of Communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible students may have served as teaching assistants, graduate assistants, or in other comparable assistantship roles that support instruction, grading, classroom activities, lab or studio work, student mentoring, academic programming, or related departmental needs. Their contribution includes but is not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>outstanding leadership in a student organization or activity<\/li><li>efforts to build a strong graduate student community by planning and\/or improving student activities<\/li><li>service and attitude in support of graduate students\u2019 academic, social, and\/or professional activities<\/li><li>community outreach and service that facilitate positive impact and connection for COM students&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees must be master\u2019s students in good standing (full- or part-time) and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
