Photo by Matthew Healey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geraldpeary.com\/index.html\">Gerald Peary<\/a>\u00a0is very happy that the 22-year-old\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/academics\/what-we-do\/film-television\/cinematheque\/\">Cinematheque<\/a>\u00a0screening and lecture series, which brings some of the most creative minds in film and TV to campus, has been honored by the Boston Society of Film Critics (BSFC) with a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonfilmcritics.org\/content\/welcome-boston-society-film-critics\">2016 commendation<\/a>. But, the College of Communication series curator says cheerfully, that it isn\u2019t something he set out to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a person named Mel Howard who was the chair of the film and television department, and he started bringing in filmmakers, but quickly got tired of it, and I guess he handed it off to me,\u201d says Peary. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing it ever since.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That was in 1997, when COM lecturer Peary, a retired Suffolk University professor of communications, was teaching cinema at COM.
