{"id":839,"date":"2012-02-17T15:24:36","date_gmt":"2012-02-17T20:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/?p=839"},"modified":"2015-02-24T15:25:04","modified_gmt":"2015-02-24T20:25:04","slug":"com-student-video-wins-cash-prize","status":"publish","type":"bu-article","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/articles\/com-student-video-wins-cash-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"COM Student Video Wins Cash Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/about-com\/faculty-directory\/kathryn-burak\/\"><strong>Prof. Kathryn Burak&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> BU COM 201 students won the Grand Prize in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mentalhealthscreening.org\/psacontest\/\">Screening for Mental Health PSA contest<\/a> to encourage students to take an online screening for eating disorders.  The winners included <strong>Corey Blumenthal (COM &#8217;15)<\/strong>, <strong>Ben Eisen (COM &#8217;15)<\/strong>, <strong>John-Michael Sedor (COM &#8217;15)<\/strong>, and <strong>Merry Lo (COM &#8217;15)<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>The Mental Health PSA contest administrators said the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe love that your video brings awareness to a lesser discussed eating disorder and depicts a stressful scene that most college students can identify with.  You did a great job!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The PSA will be used through our social media networks and this year\u2019s National Eating Disorder Screening Program campaign.  Next year, your PSA will be included in the 2012-2013 National Eating Disorder PSA DVD, which is sent to hundreds of colleges.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Students worked on the contest as part of their assignments for COM 201, with the winning group netting $500.  Six classes participated&#8211;around 120 students from BU submitted entries.
