The program also has a social media team comprised of COM students and a board where COM professor Garland Waller sits. Some past MEDIAGIRLS programming consisted of featuring COM student Julia Soklowski (COM ’18) youngest SURVIVOR contestant, leading a discussion on beauty and the media at the Brookline Teen Center.

COM students have also gotten the opportunity to not only give back, but also further the mission of MEDIAGIRLS. “Our main mission is to teach girls and young women to stand up for what they believe in using media to amplify their voices. And what we learned is that we’re not only able to significantly help girls with this, but we are also helping our BU students. They are getting practice in speaking up by modeling it, and they’re telling us that the experience truly transforms them” says Cove.

Interested in interning?
