{"id":36327,"date":"2023-05-30T14:43:24","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T18:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/?post_type=bu-article&#038;p=36327"},"modified":"2023-05-30T14:43:25","modified_gmt":"2023-05-30T18:43:25","slug":"joseph-smith-win-top-com-faculty-honors","status":"publish","type":"bu-article","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/articles\/joseph-smith-win-top-com-faculty-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Joseph, Smith Win Top COM Faculty Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/justin-joseph\/\">Justin Joseph<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/maura-smith\/\">Maura Smith<\/a> received this year\u2019s top faculty awards from the College of Communication, honoring their work in instruction and advising, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joseph, associate professor of the practice in public relations, is the recipient of this year\u2019s Becker Family Teacher-of-the-Year Award, considered the highest honor presented by COM to its professors. The award was established in memory of David Brudnoy, a legend in Boston broadcasting and a professor at COM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Joseph \u201cis always an enthusiastic volunteer to work with students, whether it is for new teaching assignments or for co-advising PR Lab,\u201d said Dean Mariette DiChristina (COM \u201986) during the presentation of the award at this year\u2019s COM convocation ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent Teacher-of-the-Year Award recipients include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/noelle-graves\/\">Noelle Graves<\/a>, senior lecturer for journalism; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/gary-sheffer\/\">Gary Sheffer<\/a>, the Sandra A. Frazier Professor of Public Relations; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/bill-braudis\/\">Bill Braudis<\/a>, assistant professor of film and television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith, master lecturer for film, is the recipient of this year\u2019s Lyndon Baines Johnson Student Advising Award, nominated by COM students for excellence in student advising.
