COM Dean Mariette DiChristina<\/a> joined the new Boston University Arts Leadership Circle to promote arts in the college on behalf of the Department of Film and Television<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group, chaired by the College of Fine Arts Dean Harvey Young, will present to the university effective and positive strategies for sharing visual and performing arts to places beyond campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For DiChristina, the arts have been a part of her life from the start, so joining the leadership circle and sharing COM\u2019s contributions were important to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy mother was an artist. My older child is a graphic designer \u2013 and CFA grad. I have always loved writing, art, and science,\u201d she says. \u201cMy life and career have always been enriched by art, and I see it part of our mission as educators to help enrich the lives of our BU community by integrating arts into everything we do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Arts Leadership Circle is set to build off of previous work at BU, such as the construction of the Joan and Edgar Booth Theater and new degree programs, University Provost Jean Morrison said in an announcement about the council<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, COM has been a part of the new live-action comedy collaboration with College of Fine Arts, \u201cArt House: A Live Audience Filming of an Original TV Comedy Pilot.\u201d Students in Film and TV and the School of Theater have come together to showcase their expertise in both fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another program for COM students in the arts include the opportunity to study and gain internship experience in the entertainment arts city of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leadership circle also includes Associate Provost and Dean of Students ad interim Jason Campbell-Foster, Managing Director of the BU Arts Initiative Ty Furman, Dean and Robert A. Knox Professor of the School of Public Health Sandro Galea, Associate Provost for Community & Inclusion Victoria Sahani, and Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences Stan Sclaroff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DiChristina hopes she can expand the reach of the arts and promote the work of COM students through her participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
