{"id":34828,"date":"2022-11-18T14:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-18T19:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/?post_type=bu-article&#038;p=34828"},"modified":"2023-01-24T16:04:29","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T21:04:29","slug":"com-to-host-pr-student-society-conference","status":"publish","type":"bu-article","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/articles\/com-to-host-pr-student-society-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"COM to host PR student society conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PR Advanced, the northeast regional conference of the Public Relations Student Society of America, will return to Boston University for the 16th time in February \u2014 and for its first in-person conference since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference on Feb. 25 provides an all-day immersion for students to learn public relations fundamentals from professionals in the industry through a series of breakout sessions, keynote speakers and a career fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two new panels \u2014 one to discuss media relations and another to explore the differences between in-house and agency work \u2014 were added to the lineup to reflect the changing PR industry, says Sue Kim, conference coordinator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m looking forward to this conference because it&#8217;s the first in-person one at Boston University since the pandemic. It was held virtually in 2021 and 2022 but there&#8217;s something different about being able to interact with industry professionals and even your peers face-to-face,\u201d Kim said. \u201cAlthough it&#8217;s quite daunting to have so much responsibility, I&#8217;m grateful that the conference committee and myself have received this opportunity because rarely do we see large-scale events like the conference being planned, managed and executed by college students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-yellow-background-left\"><p>I&#8217;m looking forward to this conference because it&#8217;s the first in-person one at Boston University since the pandemic. It was held virtually in 2021 and 2022 but there&#8217;s something different about being able to interact with industry professionals and even your peers face-to-face.<\/p><cite>Sue Kim<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Early bird registration for half-price tickets at $15 will be available from Nov. 21 through Dec. 21.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to support the team in planning for what I know will be a valuable day for the next generation of PR professionals,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/monique-kelley\/\">Monique Kelley<\/a>, associate professor of the practice of strategic communication and faculty advisor BU\u2019s PRSSA chapter. \u201cI\u2019m honored to receive the torch from Professor Steve Quigley, who retired earlier this calendar year, to serve as BU\u2019s PRSSA faculty adviser.
