An entry by three C0201 students has won second prize in a PSAid contest<\/a> sponsored by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI).<\/p>\n

Sydney Brodo (COM\u201917)<\/strong>, Jonah Boscov-Brown (COM\u201918)<\/strong>, and Lucy Gamades (COM\u201917)<\/strong> worked on the print PSA project for a C0201 class taught by Professor Taline Voskeritchian<\/a>. The PSA, titled \u201cSend Love,\u201d was one of 78 print and video entries to the nationwide competition. In a letter to the students, David Shaman of the USAID\/CIDI said that \u201cSend Love\u201d PSA was \u201ccreative, unique, and memorable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The PSAid is an annual contest that encourages donors to practice \u201csmart compassion\u201d by sending cash rather than material donations to disaster-stricken areas and populations. The winning PSA\u2019s are displayed prominently in national games, television shows and major publications.<\/p>\n

The C0201 assignment also called for a 2-page report on the process of creating the PSA. After researching past PSAs that are displayed on the PSAid website, Brodo, Boscov-Brown and Gamades noted that some of the most successful ads on PSAid incorporated dollar signs into their design. Taking advantage of on-line tutorials on how to fold dollars into different shapes, the group aimed for \u201csimplicity, muted colors and fonts with clear lines.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
