{"id":24648,"date":"2020-05-20T14:35:35","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T18:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/?p=24648"},"modified":"2021-04-28T09:14:20","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T13:14:20","slug":"com-advertising-students-excel-at-the-young-ones-creative-awards","status":"publish","type":"bu-article","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/articles\/com-advertising-students-excel-at-the-young-ones-creative-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"COM Advertising Students Excel at the Young Ones Creative Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COM students brought home 11 Young Ones Student Awards last week in one of the world\u2019s top student advertising competitions &#8212; all but one of them for advertising briefs, placing Boston University fourth in the category among schools in the world.<\/p>\n<p>COM\u2019s Yue (Yvonne) Wang and Rujie (Mia) Lin earned a \u201cGold Pencil,\u201d the top award in their category in a video for Lays, \u201cOpen to Share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cGold Cube\u201d was awarded to COM\u2019s Alex Chapman and Henry Kruell for their poster series for Amtrak, \u201cThe Beauty In Between.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe bring creative work to life and match up against students from the world over,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/profile\/doug-gould\/\">Doug Gould<\/a>, professor of the practice for advertising. \u201cThe creative world should know there is talent from BU&#8217;s College of Communication waiting to arrive at your doorstep, work hard, and write, build, design amazing things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The awards, sponsored by the One Club for Creativity since 1986, attracts hundreds of applicants from 17 different countries.<\/p>\n<h4>2020 COM student winners:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Gold Cube: Amtrak, \u201cBeauty in Between\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Alex Chapman and Henry Kruell<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Gold Pencil: Lays, \u201cOpen to Share\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Yue (Yvonne) Wang and Rujie (Mia) Lin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Silver Pencil: Vans, \u201cRide Until It&#8217;s Right\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Alex Chapman and Thomas Nitti<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Bronze Pencil: NY Times, \u201cThe only side we&#8217;re on is yours\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Kylee Hegarty and Nafeila Waili<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Bronze Pencil: The North Face. \u201cThe North Way\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Shubhangi Verma and Jinglin (Serena) Liu<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Merit: The North Face, \u201cNot your mother&#8217;s nature\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>Hadley Hopkins and Yijun (Vicky) Zhu<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Merit: The North Face, \u201cTell her she can.
